Instruction and Consulting

Having spent most of my life building and installing stairs, fabricating and installing tangent handrail, and now being semi retired, I am willing to consider sharing what I know with other interested skilled craftsmen.

To keep it serious and professional, I am charging a fee of $85.00 for the first hour, or any part of the first hour, of each separate conversation or video call, then in 15 minute increments after the first hour.

Sessions can be as long or short as you prefer.

I will answer any questions that you may have about any part of stairbuilding and tangent handrailing.

I can discuss the laying out stairs, building shop built stairs, designing and laying out for curved, oval, or spiral handrail, drawing the face molds for fabricating the individual twists, developing and applying the bevels, my exclusive method for squaring and proving the twists, making the joints, profiling the handrail, approaching the installation, and much more...

I can provide complete drawings for individual handrail fittings or full layouts for jobs that you may need now.

I can instruct you on how to copy the curve of an existing stair to develop the drawings needed to fabricate a new wood balustrade for that stair.

I can tell you how to determine the correct lengths of the odd balusters needed under a new wood curved handrail from the developed drawings.

I can fabricate any curved handrail fitttings, including large custom volutes, that you may need now.

Conversations can be by telephone, FaceTime or possibly Zoom.

A PayPal Invoice will be sent to your email after each session.

A PayPal account is not required to pay the invoice.
